As part of its educational programs, the Yerevan History Museum offers engaging and educational game-excursions for children of different age groups, alongside traditional tours. The motto is to teach not by forcing, but through play, as a child’s world is closely connected to play. Experience has shown that this method of learning is more effective in achieving the goal. At the end of each game-excursion, participants receive certificates of appreciation from the museum as a form of encouragement.
With the “Restore together” educational program, schoolchildren “restore” an object by collecting replica fragments of ceramic objects displayed in the museum’s exhibition. Through the program, their attention is drawn to ceramic artifacts with a history of thousands of years, introducing them to the methods and forms of their use in daily life. The goal of the program is also to engage schoolchildren in one of the key aspects of museum work, which is restoration, to provide knowledge about the nuances of this work and, of course, through the enthusiasm inherent in the game, to awaken in them not only a love for the museum, but also encouraging the appreciation and valuation of cultural heritage.
The program can be attended by 1-6 children (ages 8-14), who are given a set amount of time to “restore” the object. After that, the general tour of the museum continues.
The program is unique in that visitors and tourists of different age groups can also participate.
The duration of the excursion and educational program is up to 60 minutes.
