Director of Yerevan History Museum Participates in Japan’s “Building Bridges” Forum

May 27–31, 2025 — The Director of the Yerevan History Museum, Mr. Gevorg Orbelyan, participated in the “Building Bridges: Japan’s Cooperation with Central Asia and the Caucasus” Forum and related cultural events held within the framework of EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
Organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the forum aimed to foster dialogue and strengthen partnerships between Japan and the Central Asia–Caucasus region. Mr. Orbelyan delivered a presentation titled “Toward Smart Cities: Challenges and Solutions for Sustainable Urban Development”, where he shared Yerevan’s approaches to integrating cultural institutions in shaping smart, inclusive, and resilient urban environments.
During his visit, Mr. Orbelyan also held a meeting with Armenia’s newly appointed Ambassador to Japan, Ms. Monika Simonyan. The meeting focused on exploring future collaboration opportunities to strengthen Armenia–Japan cultural ties, particularly through joint exhibitions and cultural exchange programs.
As part of the Armenian delegation, Mr. Orbelyan visited Armenia’s National Pavilion, which operates under the theme “Pillars of Today and Tomorrow.” The pavilion showcases Armenia’s leading innovation projects, cultural and historical heritage, favorable investment environment, and future-focused educational initiatives such as TUMO, COAF, and Armath.
