Jim Torosyan was the best friend of our museum
Yesterday, on January 5, at Christmas Eve, the honorary architect of Armenia, the Arm SSR People’s architect, the RA and Arm SSR state prize laureate, academician of the International Academy of Architecture, the Honorary Citizen of Yerevan Jim Torosyan passed away at the age of 87.
In 1971-1981 Jim Torosyan was the chief architect of Yerevan.
He was the author of a number of building and constructions which today are special features of our city: the building of the Institute of Cardiology, the Cascade complex, the memorial of the 50th anniversary of Armenia, the Government reception hall, «Republic square» metro station, the building of the Contemporary Art Museum (HayArt), the magnificent building of the Municipality of Yerevan and the Yerevan History Museum, the monuments to A. Isahakyan, A Spendiaryan, M. Nalbandyan and Y. Charents and a number of other public and living buildings.
On behalf of a number of intellectuals, residents of Yerevan and the staff of our museum we pay our respects to the family of the wonderful person.
Jim Torosyan was the best friend of our museum. We will always remember him.
