”The History of Armenian Inventive Thought: What Have Armenians Invented in Yerevan and Beyond?” Lecture

On March 14, a lecture entitled “The History of Armenian Inventive Thought: What Have Armenians Invented in Yerevan and Beyond?” was held at the Yerevan History Museum, presented by contemporary writer Tim Skorenko, who is also involved in making science accessible to the public.

Who was the first to transmit a color image over a distance, or who invented the accordion? Who created the first Mars rover or the coffee-making device? Who and how actually developed the dollar’s incredible green color, patented the hairdryer or, for instance, cultivated the orchid that became Singapore’s symbol? What is fiction in all this, and what is truth?
The lecture is dedicated to inventors of Armenian origin, who, as a result of historical events, were scattered across the globe, from Soviet Armenia to the USA, France, Austria, Singapore, and other countries. Special attention will be given to inventors working in Yerevan.

Tim Skorenko is the author of several popular science books on the history and theory of inventive thought, a laureate of the Belyaev Prize, and the winner of the “Prosvetitel” Prize. He headed the Moscow editorial office of the “Popular Mechanics” portal for several years. Since 2014, he has been giving lectures in the CIS countries. He is the author of the recently published book «Марсоход, аккордеон, МРТ: История армянской изобретательской мысли».
