SUMMARY

The research paper is devoted to the Ottoman tax register of the Yerevan Nahie of 1590. The tax register has a crucial importance for studying demography and socio-economic issues of the Nahie.

Owing to the tax register, we can determine the ethnic composition, the quantity of families and taxpayers, uninhabited villages, collected taxes, their rates and etc.

The Yerevan Nahie consists of the city and 89 villages including 64 abandoned ones. The overwhelming majority in Nahie were Christians (Armenians). Muslims lived in the city and only in 5 villages.

The population of the Yerevan Nayie paid different taxes to the Ottomans. It should be emphasized that some of tax rates were fixed by the Ottoman authorities.
