Pastry in Yerevan (19th-20th centuries)

The system of traditional food comprised of everyday and ritual and festive dishes. Holidays were accompanied by ritual feasts. Dessert included sweets, nuts, dried fruit, fruit served after dinner. Dessert had various names in Armenian and their meanings are explained in the Dictionary of synonyms, Yerevan 2003, p.19 by A. Sukiasyan; in Explanatory dictionary by Mart. Harutyunyants, Alexandropol, 1912,p.213.

A present with the symbols of Yerevan of the 1970s – to the Yerevan History Museum

The historical values of the Yerevan History Museum have been replenished with another 7 samples of contemporary history of Yerevan, which were presented to the museum by artist Haghtanak Shahumyan.

These are the symbolic items of Yerevan of the 1970s, particularly, the hand-made original medal of the Honorary citizen of Yerevan, the book with engraved wooden cover where the honorary guests and citizens of Yerevan used to leave their records, the first example of the certificate-passport in leather cover of the latter, one of the three symbolic keys of the Yerevan metro and the main scheme of the measure dedicated to 2760th anniversary of Erebuni-Yerevan of 1978.

The Yerevan History Museum has been replenished with a rich collection of Oriental culture which includes exclusive samples.

The collection is a present from Iran Armenian living in the USA Rostom Voskanyan to the museum and it was handed to the museum by the grantor’s brother, Zaven Voskanyan. Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan was present at the ceremony of handing the valuable collection to the museum and got acquainted with the samples of the collection.
